These interactive and educational sessions are facilitated by a movement disorder physician with expertise in various aspects of Integrative Medicine. Living with a movement disorder requires a full and complementary approach to your health. When we say “your”, we mean the person with the disease as well as care partners. In addition to ensuring you are connected with an expert (ideally a movement disorder specialist), there are a variety of other treatment modalities that can be integrated into your treatment plan. People with a movement disorder and care partners can benefit from Integrative Medicine. Don’t miss this quarterly session held on the first Tuesday of the month January, April, July, October at 12:00 PST.
2019 topics – Acupuncture, Naturopathic Medicine, Nutrition
In collaboration with Parkinson TV, NeuroLife Online now offers a special quarterly program. The format of the group is for participants to watch an episode of Parkinson TV followed by a live Q&A session with a movement disorder physician. This program includes socialization (fundamental to PMD Alliance’s service model), education and a casual interactive session with an expert to ensure you can translate the knowledge into everyday life! Don’t miss this quarterly session held on the first Tuesday of the month March, June, September, and December at 12:00 PM PST.
It is easy to regard socialization as something that is nice to have but not essential. This is not true. In fact, research shows that socialization and social contact improves health outcomes. Whether you are a person living with the disease, care partner, adult children or family member, socialization is an important part of the care plan. Brain Boost is a quarterly educational session in which an expert will talk about various aspects of socialization, research in brain health and the intersection of the two. This interactive session will round out your care plan! Join us on the first Tuesday of February, May, August, and November at 12:00 PST.
Speech therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy… therapies are a tremendous benefit for people impacted by movement disorders. These services are often underutilized. We never want you to leave opportunities to improve your quality of life on the table. Join us for a Therapy Break on the third Wednesday of each month at 4:30 PM PST. Each session includes a brief talk by a Speech, Occupational or Physical therapist discussing an aspect of the therapy and potential benefits. After the talk, the therapist will answer questions and facilitate a conversation for attendees to share tips and tools.
