Rock Steady Boxing Peninsula is an affiliate of Rock Steady Boxing (RSB). Rock Steady Boxing is a first-of-its kind, Indianapolis-based non-profit gym founded in 2006 to provide an effective form of physical exercise to people who are living with Parkinson’s.
Though it may seem surprising, this non-contact boxing-inspired fitness routine is a dramatically improving the ability of people with Parkinson’s to live independent lives.
RSB was founded in 2006 by former Marion County (Indiana) prosecutor Scott C. Newman, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at age 40.

Adaptive Physical Education’s mission is to maintain and improve the health and well-being of adults and seniors of all abilities, welcoming those with physical disabilities or significant health limitations by offering a vibrant fitness gym and programs adapted to meet each member’s individual needs. Located in the heart of Redwood City for nearly 40 years, we provide life-changing fitness programs in a welcoming community atmosphere. Our instructors and staff are experts in adapted fitness, gerontology, and working with complex medical conditions, including Parkinson’s Disease and other neuromuscular conditions. Combined with adapted equipment such as NuSteps or recumbent bikes, our programs are inviting, inclusive, and impactful.
Each week, we hold General Fitness classes (beginning and intermediate levels), 3 Yoga classes, and a Dance & Fitness class. We also offer Specialty Classes, including 4 classes for those with Parkinson’s and/or other neuromuscular challenges and a Pulmonary Fitness & Maintenance program. We offer Open Gym times every weekday, when members drop in for a self-directed workout using our adapted equipment. Finally, we have specialty equipment, including a Standing Frame and Biodex SD Balance System.

Our Lewy body dementia caregiver group is open to those living in Northern or Central California, or whose family members or friends with LBD live in Northern or Central California. We meet in-person (San Mateo) on even-numbered months, and virtually on odd-numbered months. We generally meet the second Sunday though, in May, this changes usually to the third Sunday.
