Group meets monthly where PWP and care partners meet in two separate rooms for discussion after general announcements every other month. Alternate months have a guest speaker where the group meets as a whole. A speech pathologist meets with the PWP, and an occupational therapist meets with the care partners.

The MetroWest YMCA hosts a Parkinson’s Wellness Program for any member of the community with classes 6 days per week. This program is free and does not require membership. Classes include Pedal for Parkinson’s, PWR! Moves, Movement to Music, and Strength & Conditioning. We also host a monthly social with invited speakers covering topics like home care, nutrition, caregiver resources, research, etc. Caregivers welcome!

The Aquidneck Island Support Group’s goal is to provide an opportunity for people living with Parkinson’s Disease to Share personal experiences, feelings, and coping strategies, to provide Educational opportunities related to the disease and to empower participants to take Action towards living well with Parkinson’s disease.
Individuals living with Parkinson’s Disease and their care partners are welcome to attend the support group monthly or as desired with no obligation for attendance. There is no fee associated with this group and parking is free.

We meet weekly – in-person/virtual(hybrid) on the 2nd Monday and virtual-only on the other Mondays of the month from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. The meetings include guest speakers, podcasts/webinars, or group discussion. For the virtual-only meetings, the first 45 minutes of the program are followed by 45 minutes of exercise led by Jean White, the PD fitness instructor from the Westfield YMCA. For the in-person meetings, we break for light refreshments around 2:30 PM.
