To the wonderful support group leaders in our PMD Alliance community:
Are you concerned about the members of your support group? Do you wish there was a way to hold meetings without violating the need for social distancing? PMD Alliance wants to help.
We’re offering support group leaders across the country the free use, training, and support you need to conduct meetings online using our Pro Zoom account. If you’re not familiar with Zoom, it’s an easy way to meet with others online. You can join meetings by phone, computer, or tablet. You can gather together for support group meetings . . . and PMD Alliance will train and support you as you learn how to use Zoom and become comfortable with it.
We’re also offering a simple ‘Phone Tree’ model that can be duplicated by support group leaders. You and the members of your group can stay connected over the phone. This model may be especially useful for groups that have limited internet access.
Finally, we’ve scoured the internet and curated a page of resources for you. Check it out for ideas on translating in-person meetings to virtual settings, and the latest on avoiding zoombombing and keeping your meetings secure.
Learn the fundamentals of how to join, schedule, and host online support group meetings using Zoom. Get more comfortable with meeting settings and the tech behind hosting a support group online plus managing the flow of conversation in an online setting.
Online Meeting Content
So you moved your group online. Now what? Great news: the same content that your group members asked for in-person can translate to online! Here are a few ideas from our In Sync® Support Group Leader Reference Guide to get your creative juices flowing.
Create a Phone Tree
If not all of your support group members are tech savvy enough to use Zoom and join virtually, what can be done? Phone calls help group members stay in touch with each other, and connect on a deeper level. Download our phone tree resource and get dialing!
